Wi-LAN analyzes the products of potential licensees to determine whether their products are infringing on patents in our portfolio of patented innovations. Wi-LAN will notify potential licensees of patent infringements and our interest to enter into a license agreement. The preferred outcome is always a fair license agreement achieved through negotiation. When all reasonable efforts undertaken by Wi-LAN to reach a negotiated agreement fail, litigation is an unfortuate but sometimes necessary step for Wi-LAN to be fairly compensated by those who benefit from its technology.
